Automation of On-Farm Irrigation Turnouts Utilizing Jack-Gates

ADSTRACT THE design, development, and installation of equipment used to automate existing single outlet turnouts (jack-gates) on a 26.3-ha (65~acre) field are described. Specific jack-gate modifications and equip-ment requirements; control center design associated with safety overflow, excess water after irrigation, and sequencing functions; and system operations are all discussed.
