A NEW IDENTITY

By repairing and relocating steel trusses, replacing deteriorating approach spans, and replacing what, at the time of its construction, was regarded as a daring concrete truss, engineers have given new character to a venerable bridge in downtown Nashville. This article was adapted from the paper ”Rehabilitation of Shelby Street Bridge- Combining The New and The Old,” Which was presented at ”Structures 2004,” a conference sponsored by ASCE and its Structural Engineering Institute and held in Nashville, Tennessee, in May 2004.
