Coupled CFD/Multibody Analysis of NREL Unsteady Aerodynamic Experiment Phase VI Rotor

This paper illustrates the coupled fluid-structure analysis of the NREL aerodynamic experiment phase VI rotor. The coupled solution is obtained by coupling the free generalpurpose multibody solver MBDyn and the URANS solver TURNS. A model of the isolated rotor in unyawed and yawed flow conditions is extensively analyzed. The same rotor model, mounted on a flexible tower model, is considered as well. The numerical results are compared to measurements performed during the experimental campaign.
