Analysis and Design of Memristor Emulator and Its Application in FM Demodulator

In this paper, a very effective and extremely simplified memristor emulator is reported. The developed emulator is able to replicate memristive behavior up to 3 kHz. The emulator has been developed using readily available off-the-shelves components resistors, capacitors, op-amps, and multipliers and, therefore, this also allows easy adjustments and modifications in the emulator for enhancing the performance. A prototype has been developed to validate the performance and a good agreement in simulated and measured metrics in terms of three fingerprints, namely, the I-V characteristic with a pinched hysteresis loop, decrease in the hysteresis loop area with an increase in frequency, and shrinking of hysteresis loop to a single value as the operating frequency tends to infinity, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed emulator. The physical implementation of an emulator is well improved using modified architecture. As an application, the emulator has been shown to operate well in FM demodulator.
