Electromagnetic characteristics analysis of surface-mounted and interior hybrid PMSM based on equivalent magnetic circuit method

To overcome the shortcomings of the complex and time-consuming calculative process of the finite element method in analyzing and solving motors, this paper adopts equivalent magnetic circuit method to research on the electromagnetic characteristics of surface-mounted and interior hybrid permanent magnet synchronous motor (SIHPMSM). The serial and series-parallel equivalent magnetic circuit models (EMCMs) of SIHPMSM are established respectively based on the characteristics of magnetic circuits. Ignoring the influences of leakage magnetic resistances and magnetic saturation effect, the EMCMs are simplified to obtain the magnetic field distribution and the back-EMF. The static finite element model (FEM) of SIHPMSM is established to analyze the motor characteristics. The magnetic field distribution is compared for the results of the simplified EMCMs and the FEM. Through testing the prototype, the back-EMF is compared for the results of the simplified EMCMs and the experimental value. The rationality and validity of the proposed simplified EMCMs are verified and the results of simplified serial-parallel EMCM are more accurate.
