OptoNet-an omnidirectional optical data communication system

OptoNet is an experimental infrared optical data communication network. It utilizes low-cost infrared components and an omnidirectional radiation pattern. Nondirect paths, rather than line-of-sight, are used for data transmission. By optimizing operating characteristics of the transmitter and receiver, successful data communication was achieved over a range of ten meters utilizing approximately 250 mW of optical power.<<ETX>>
