ASSESSMENT OF THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF ABERFELDY GRP PLASTIC CABLE-STAYED FOOTBRIDGE

This paper describes the dynamic tests carried out on the Aberfeldy glass reinforced plastic cable-stayed footbridge. Specifically the tests comprise an ambient vibration survey for the determination of the natural frequencies and mode shapes whereas damping values are determined by additional tests (heel drop and free-vibration decay). Pedestrian tests were performed, enabling an assessment of the footbridge with respect to the vibration serviceability requirements of BS 5400. For the covering abstract, see IRRD 892007.
