Anatomy of the InfO system: Applying object-oriented concept to a web-based information sharing system

As the widespread use of the consumer electronics, the information is available around us. The information is generated rapidly but there is no effective and general format to organise it. We propose a concept of information object (InfO). The design goal of the InfO is to make the information self-contained, portable, extensible, and reusable. The InfO is based on the object oriented model, which combines the data and method in a single entity. In this paper, we explain how the application developer uses the InfO model to construct an information sharing platform rapidly. Through the platform, the information consumer can use the characteristics of the portability of the InfO to share information with one another. Also, the specification of the InfO can be a reference for the internet application development in the future.
