Innovative United Kingdom Approaches to Measuring Service Quality

THISARTICLE REPORTS ON APPROACHES TO MEASURING the service quality of academic libraries that are innovative in the United Kingdom. Some of them will, it is hoped, also be innovative in the United States. The discussion is also intended to draw out particular themes where there are marked similarities and differences between the two countries. After a brief introduction to the UK national background of quality measurement, the article deals with four topics-measurement frameworks, better use of statistics, benchmarking, and measuring user satisfaction-before offering some suggestions about likely future developments.
