Apparatus and method for estimating carrier-to-interference noise ratio in an ofdm communication system

Receiving a signal with a guard band is allocated to a part of the sub-carriers in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme of the communication system has been disclosed an apparatus and method for estimating a signal to interference noise ratio (CINR). The receiving apparatus according to the present invention includes a receiving unit and, the estimator. The receiver receives the transmitted signal carried on using sub-carriers having the guard bands allocated to the predetermined area. The estimator estimates a CINR obtain the signal component power and the interference and noise component power from the received signal to remove the diffused signal component and the said diffusion signal component removed by the guard band included in the noise component of the received signal . The estimator may be configured to include a calculation for estimating an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) processing unit, a data division and a fast Fourier transform (FFT) processing unit and a data selecting unit, and a signal to interference noise ratio. The apparatus is effective to simplify the hardware required to implement the bias while removing appear as interference and noise power is estimated and when estimating the CINR.
