ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A REAL TIME WIDE BAND CHANNEL SIMULATOR FOR LEO SATELLITE CHANNELS

Channel simulators have traditionally been expensive due to the low volume production and complex electronics required, and indeed have offered limited functionality and flexibility. Channel models have often been fixed to values set by the type approval specification for the chosen communication system standard, and the functionality has often been limited to one narrowband terrestrial system, such as GSM, with no support for customised channels. No current commercial channel simulators offer support for a LEO satellite faded channel.
