Transformer‐Coupled NMR Probe Technology

This article discusses the use of a transformer to interface an NMR coil to the spectrometer. A transformer with a ferromagnetic core provides maximally efficient energy transfer between the sample coil and an NMR spectrometer while maintaining the simplified tuning operations, a benefit of the general inductively coupled circuits. Construction of a transformer-coupled NMR probe is straightforward, but there are several properties that should be considered to ensure the loss caused by the transformer remains small.
