EFFECTS OF ADDITION OF RE ON PROPERTIES AND STRUCTURE OF Ni-W-B-SiC COMPOSITE COATINGS

The effects of RE on the components, phase structtire, surface morphology,properties and hardness of electrodeposited RWNi-W-B-SiC composite coatings are investigated. The results show that W and SiC contents in the coatings increase with the amounto f RE in the bath. The crystal particles in the RE-Ni-W-B-SiC composite coatings are finerand the trend of amorphous coatings increases when RE is inserted in the coatings. Moreover,the heat stability of the RE-Ni-W-B-SiC composite coatings is enhanced. The hardness of thecoatings is increased with the increase of heat treatment temperature, and it reaches peak valuewhen heated at 400"C. The hardness of the RE-Ni-W-B-SiC coatings is higher than that ofNi-W-B-SiC coatings.
