A Novel Adaptive Receiver for Flat Fading Channels with Impulsive Noise

A method of blind estimation of signal and parameters of the channel model is proposed in an impulsive noise environment. A mixture of the symmetric alpha stable distribution and the Gaussian distribution is used to model the noise. Model parameters and signal are simultaneously estimated by iterative procedures derived from the Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithm. Simulation results show that near-optimal performance and sub-optimal performance can be achieved by the adaptive receiver using a training sequence and the blind receiver, respectively.
