Changeable production systems in the machinery and equipment industry — Success factors: It-integration and real-time capable production planning and control

The German machinery and equipment industry is set in a dynamic market with challenging requirements. Short delivery times and high delivery reliability are key factors for purchase decisions. Therefore it is crucial for succeeding in the market to meet these requirements with efficient business processes and high developed skills for a quick reaction on changes (ability to coordinate). For this reason the research project “WInD” — Changeable production systems through integrated IT-structures and real-time capable production planning and control in the conceptual framework “research for the production of tomorrow” aims to improve the ability of coordination in production networks in the machinery and equipment industry through the integration of the internal and external information flow between companies as well as realizing a real-time capable production planning and control method.
