In order to facilitate the interference manipulation, the ATSC recommended practice (RP) A/111 introduces transmitter identification (TxID) signals with very low level, which are embedded in the DTV signal to be transmitted from each transmitter and repeater. Also, a very low-rate additional data transmission scheme was developed by modulating the amplitude and polarity of the TxID signal. In this paper, we propose an improved data transmission scheme using TxID and Walsh sequences in the ATSC terrestrial DTV systems. The proposed scheme significantly improves data rate compared to the conventional scheme.
