Management level as defined and applied within a construction organization by some US contractors and engineers

Abstract The concepts, definition, types and applications of management level are addressed. A construction company and a construction organization are defined, as are the broad functions of a construction organization. A typical organization structure identified in a study is used to illustrate the concepts and types of management levels identified in this study. Data for this paper was collected from a literature survey to identify documented efforts by various government agencies, consulting firms, practitioners in construction and other industries, and the universities; questionnaires received from 26 construction personnel; and person-to-person in-depth interviews with 114 construction personnel.
