Ventilation in Plant Tissue Cultures and Effects of Poor Aeration on Ethylene and Carbon Dioxide Accumulation, Oxygen Depletion and Explant Development

This paper describes how ventilation of different vessels can be compared quantitatively when sealed to varying extents. The consequences of restricting aeration to defined limits on concentrations of ethylene, carbon dioxyde and oxygen in culture vessels and their influence on micro-propagated plants of Gerbera jamesonii, Ficus lyrata and Solanum tuberosum are also described.
