Evaluation of the VSC-HVDC system performance in accordance with the more electric aircraft concept

The paper contains simulation tests based on the conducted analysis, created mathematical model and computer simulations of exemplary components of the modern on-board electrical network of the VSC-HVDC system in the subject of the study, in line with the concept of a more electric aircraft. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper was to evaluate the performance of the advanced VSC-HVDC system, taking into account the comparative criterion with the LCC HVDC system, in line with the trend of a more electric aircraft. It should be noted that the presented solution, taking into account the special role of the VSC-HVDC system in the field of the more electric aircraft MEA/AEA trend, is used both on the military aircrafts of the leading aviation company (Lockheed Martin) in the scope of JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) aircraft F-35 and the F-22 Raptor, as well as in the case of advanced passenger airplanes (A-380 and A- 350 XWB, B-787) of civilian aviation corporations (Airbus, Boeing). In the final part of the work based on the above, practical conclusions were formulated in the subject of the research, which is the VSC-HVDC system.
