L'A. prolonge la reflexion de Paul Attewell concernant la fracture numerique aux Etats-Unis : la premiere, celle de l'acces aux ordinateurs, est prise en compte par les autorites publiques, mais l'A. montre les limites de cette demarche, car apparait une seconde fracture numerique correspondant aux utilisations des ordinateurs. L'A. suggere le role actif que peuvent jouer les sociologues de l'education dans l'elaboration de programmes educatifs sur ordinateurs
