RMS delay spread estimation of ground reflection channel for UWB communications

This paper describes the RMS delay spread estimation of ground reflection for UWB communications. This study is based on ground reflection model. The waveform polarizations and ground characteristics are considered. The passband rectangular pulse with specific center frequency and bandwidth is used for transmitted signal. Complex form of Friis' transmission formula is applied for the UWB ground reflection channel. The RMS delay spread is evaluated by received signal. The effects of waveform polarizations and ground characteristics on the ground reflection channel are discussed in the paper.
