State Observers for Estimation Problems in Induction Motors

This chapter focuses on estimation problems in induction motors adressed via observer techniques : flux reconstruction as well as parameter estimation are considered in this way, either with rotor speed measurement or even without ('sensorless' case), and relying in any case on the knowledge of stator currents and voltages. Some observer solutions are highlighted for each situation, underlining the related observability conditions accordingly. A special attention is given to appropriate writing of the model for a possible kalman-like observer design, and various simulation results are proposed for the sake of illustration, in particular embedding the observer in a closed-loop control scheme
