Computational design and optimization of a magnetron injection gun

Gyrotron traveling wave tube (gyro-TWT) is mainly electronic beam transverse energy and electromagnetic wave energy exchange. So the high quality electronic beam must have a sufficient pitch factor α (vl/vz). A modulating anode with curved geometry was designed and the multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) was employed to optimize the curved geometry. A high pitch ratio of 1.57 and a low velocity spread of 0.6% were obtained. A sensitivity analysis with respect to critical parameters, such as magnetic compression ratio, anode-cathode distance and anode spacing, has been carried out.
