Analysis of Heat Load in Tread Braking of Metro Vehicles with the Speed of 100 km/h

The heat load calculation model for wheels of metro vehicles with the speed of 100 km/h is set up. The calculation process and the evaluation method are described. On the basis of the uniformly distributed heat source method, with the application of the ANSYS software, the heat loads in tread braking of new wheels (φ840 mm) and wheels worn to limit (φ770 mm) under two conditions of 2 times continuous emergency braking with air braking only and normal operation with air braking only are calculated, and the strength is checked. The result shows that the 2 times continuous emergy braking of wheels worn to limit and the braking in normal operation of new wheels can meet the requirements of the wheel tread damage, however, the 2 times continuous emergy braking of new wheels and the braking in normal operation of wheels worn to the limit cannot meet the requirements of the wheel tread damage.
