Ferula karakumica (Apiaceae), a new species from Turkmenistan

A new species Ferula karakumica Geld. et A. V. Pavlenko is described from the Central Karakum and Uchtagan sands (Turkmenistan). It resembles F. karelinii Bunge in morphology of its reproductive parts, but differs by general habit and morphology of vegetative parts. The newly described species differs from other Ferula L. species in having roots with several well spaced tuberiform thickenings.
