Electrospinning is a process that produces continuous polymer fibers with diameters in the sub-micron range through the action of an external electric field imposed on a polymer solution or melt. It summarized the principle and equipments, polymer characteristics with examples for poly(ethylene oxide), polyamide, polyester, polyacetylene, polyacrylonitrile, poly(vinyl chloride), poly(vinylidene fluoride), polycarbonate, polymethylmethacrylate, application including filter and membrane, reinforcement, soldier protective clothing, future development of electrospun ultra-fine fibers.
