Harmonic Current Detection Based on the Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform

As well known that, Wavelets are commonly used for detection of the anomalies such as shorth-circuit phenomena and phase jump. There are various wavelet techniques has been purposed to use in power quality analysis and power electronics. However, Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DTCWT) is newly used in the field of power electronics. In this study, the DTCWT algorithm is investigated to use as an alternative method in the field of power electronic applications for the detection of current harmonic components. The consequence of using DTCWT, which makes it distinguishable from existing harmonic detection methods, is that it does not need frequency lock loop (FLL) or phase lock loop (PLL) algorithms. In addition, the use of DTCWT method with its simple structure makes the implementation easier. The performance of the system is compared by second-order generalized-integrator (SOGI) algorithm. Results obtained in the laboratory setup are presented to verify the effectiveness of the studied method.
