An Image Processing Method for Seam Offset Extraction

An image processing method was proposed to obtain the seam offset.Firstly,two analysis windows are set to segment the weld pool region and the weld seam region from the background.Then a series of routines is designed to extract the projective point of the wire on the workpiece and the seam centerline based on the analysis of the welding image and the prior knowledge of the welding process.Finally,the equation to calculate the seam offset was given.The result shows that the processing time is less than 30 ms,which is suited in real-time.
