Parameter identification of nine-phase induction machines with concentrated windings

Multiphase induction machines are gaining increasing interests in large-power and safety-critical applications because of their numerous advantages over the conventional three-phase machines. This paper proposes a simple offline identification method for multiphase induction machines with concentrated windings to estimate the stator leakage inductance as well as the magnetizing inductances, rotor resistances, and rotor leakage inductances in fundamental and harmonic planes. Parameter identification experiment is conducted on a 2kW 9-phase induction machine to verify the proposed method. Finally, the comparison between characteristic curves from simulation and experiment demonstrates the accuracy of the proposed parameter identification method.
