Effect of large high intake of tablets containing "lactotripeptides (VPP, IPP)" on blood pressure, pulse rate and clinical parameters in healthy volunteers

A double-blind, comparative study was conducted to evaluate the effects of large intake of tablets containing antihypertensive peptides, Val-Pro-Pro and Ile-Pro-Pro, on blood pressure, pulse rate and clinical parameters in 20 healthy volunteers. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups. One group ingested daily 14 test tablets (28g) for seven days, and the other group ingested the same amounts of placebo tablets for seven days. No marked changes were observed in blood pressure, pulse rate and blood serum variables in both groups. No adverse effects such as dry cough were seen in the test group. The observed gastrointestinal troubles were temporary and did not require any treatment.
