THE PUFFIN PEDESTRIAN CROSSING : EXPERIENCE WITH THE FIRST EXPERIMENTAL SITES

This study reports on experiences with the Puffin pedestrian crossing. The Puffin is a new type of light-controlled pedestrian crossing which uses pedestrian detectors to improve efficiency and acceptability. The system involves pressure sensitive mats and infrared detectors.
