Gd- and Zr-Substituted Ca-V Garnets

Polycrystalline garnet of the system Y 3-2x-y-z Gd z Ca 2x+y Fe 5-x-y V x Zr y O 12 was investigated. Relatively temperature-stable magnetization near room temperature and narrow ferrimagnetic resonance linewidth ( \DeltaH 10 Oe) were obtained for the composition range of 0.4 \leq x \leq 0.6, 0.3 \leq y \leq 0.6 and 0.3 \leq z \leq 1.6 respectively. The lowest value of linewidth at z=1.0 was 5.2 Oe at the composition of x=0.4 and y=0.6, which suggests the remarkable reduction of anisotropy.
