Asphalt laydown is the general term used to describe asphaltic road construction. The primary use of asphalt is in road construction, where it is used as the glue or binder mixed with aggregate particles to create asphalt concrete. Its other main uses are for waterproofing products, including production of roofing felt and for sealing flat roofs against moisture incursion.
It is the purpose of this chapter to present to the reader a general description of the means by which asphalt is delivered from the plant to the work site and laid down in a manner that will be conducive to the production of an asphalt roadway.
