Analisys of the behavior of sequential Fano decoder for convolutional codes

Effectiveness of the sequential decoding process for each convolutional code depends on the correctly chosen configuration of a decoder. This article presents the results of research of the influence of the hypothetical probability of channel error parameter P characterizing the metric used in decoding on the behavior of the sequential Fano decoder for convolutional codes (171, 133, K = 7) and (5335336767373553, 7335336767373553, K = 48). Optimal values of the parameter P were found and presented.
