Through a Funnel Slowly with Ball Bearing and Insight to Teach Experimental Design

Abstract This article describes a simple physical experiment that can be used as a teaching aid for statistical design of experiments instruction. An instructional strategy that incorporates the experiment into interactive training is presented, and advantages and possible problems with its use are discussed. Details for constructing the equipment are provided in an appendix.
