Influences of 6-BA and Amino Acids on Flower Formation from Cotyledons of Cucumber in vitro

Cotyledon explants without embryonic axes from Yuexiu No.1 cucumber were cultured on differ-ent media. The results indicated that, the flowering rate was obviously increased by 1/2 MS medium supple-mented with 0.10 mg.L-1 6-BA. Although the higher flowering rate was got by White medium supplementedwith 2.00 mg.L-1 KT but the plant was small, thin and etiolation. There was not obvious differences in flowerrate on 1/2MS medium containing 0.01, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.50 mg.L-1 6-BA. The plant grew well at a lowconcentration of 6-BA but at a high concentration grew badly. The flowering rate was improved obviouslyby 1/2 MS medium supplemented with 2.00 mg.L-1 L-alanine and 2.00 mg.L-1 L-tyrosine respectively, whileglycine presented inhibition, the lower flowering was recorded.
