A New Mathematical Model For Right Ventricular Geometry

Evaluation and understanding of the right ventricule (RV) by both medical imaging methods and mechanical modeling techniques are closely linked to modeling the ventricle's true geometry. This study is aimed at deriving and testing a new mathematical algorithm that fits the unique crescentic cross-sectional shape of the chamber by two intersecting circles. Model derived total RV volume when compared to actual volume generated a correlation coefficient of .97. Shape measurements also correlated well.
