Simulation and Validation of Correlated Non-Gaussian Radar Clutter

Simulation of the radar clutter is the most important method to evaluate the radar performance, and is also the important subject of the radar signal processing. The spherically invariant random processes(SIRP) is one of the major methods to model the radar clutter, and is used to describe the amplitude probability function and correlation function of radar clutter, and the amplitude probability function and correlation function of SIRP can be controlled independently. In this paper, the basic characteristic of SIRP is discussed at first, and the two kinds of radar clutter simulation methods based on SIRP are given, for CHI distribution and K-distribution respectively. The computer simulation is used to validate the amplitude probability function and correlation function of simulated radar clutter.
