Spectrum sensing model and throughput analysis in a distributed cognitive radio network

This paper proposes an unified distributed spectrum sensing model for analyzing the overlay, underlay and hybrid overlay/underlay paradigms in a distributed cognitive radio network where there are one primary channel and multiple secondary user (SU) pairs, and the co-channel interference is present. At each SU, the energy detection scheme is employed to identify the usage of the primary channel and the local decisions are sent to the fusion center for making a final spectrum sensing result. The distributed spectrum sensing scheme is derived and the SU throughput is then analyzed. Numerical simulations are also carried out for illustration.
