The implementation of energy efficiency design index (EEDI) pushes designers to develop high efficiency ships, resulting in that lots of new energy-saving technology and devices are widely used in ships. Based on the experimental investigation, asymmetric energy-saving tail-fins are developed and success used on ships. The tail fin can make the field of tail-wake stabilize and uniform, improve the propulsion efficiency of the propellers, and therefore reduce energy consumption. In addition, the asymmetric energy-saving tail-fin can also reduce ship hull vibration induced by excitation of propeller.
