Collaboration to teach the critical thinking skills needed to become a successful Internet searcher: The planning of a WWW search engine workshop

Abstract What skills will librarians of the future require to ensure that our patrons' needs are met? One that comes immediately to mind is the ability to maximize shrinking budgets by collaborating with other agencies. A second skill that librarians of the future will require is the ability to take advantage of a networked environment. The following is a description of a collaboratively planned seminar designed to identify and teach World Wide Web (WWW) search skills. This workshop was created with an eye to “The Learning Library of the Future.”
