A new moduli set selection technique to improve sign detection and number comparison in residue number system (RNS)

Residue number system (RNS) offers a promising future because its carry-free operations in addition, subtraction and multiplication. This inherent property of RNS can be used to reduce the complexity of calculation in many applications, such as encryption and fuzzy systems. However, its adoption is still difficult due to its inherited complex operations such as sign detection and number comparison. We propose a new technique in selecting moduli set, which allows one to find a moduli set with any number of modulus. By using this moduli set, the complicated RNS operations such as sign detection and number comparison can be simplified.
