Measurement of Electric Field Distributions using Small Coaxial Probe in Microstrip-Line Circuits and Comparison with FD-TD method

A detailed investigation of the electromagnetic field distributions in high frequency printed circuits, high-speed interconnects and microstrip-lines is very useful for physical understanding, circuit design, studies of electromagnetic coupling effects for EMC and EMI. The full-wave analysis is carried out by using a finite-difference time domain technique. Its measurement is carried out by using a small coaxial probe antenna and complicated measurement system is not required. The upper limit of the operating frequency and the resolution for this measurement will be clarified.
