Cylindrical foundation structure is a new type of structure applied in port and coastal engineering.The stability of the structure is sustained by the cylindrical foundation embedded in soil.In this article,the key points to form the elastic-plastic finite element model of cylindrical foundation structure is presented,the criterions to judge the stability of the structure according to the finite element calculations are proposed and the finite element method for stability analysis of cylindrical foundation structures is established.The method is tested through an example.It is shown that the finite element method for stability analysis of cylindrical foundation structures presented herein is accurate and reliable,which can be used in stability analysis of port and coastal structures.
