A Novel Trust Update Mechanism Based on Sliding Window for Trust Management System

In the dynamic distributed network environment, such as P2P, trust evaluation has become an important security mechanism. In order to support the network entities with different behavioral characteristics, the researchers have put a lot of effort into developing various trust management mechanisms. Due to the mobility of the network entities and the dynamic change of the context, there are many factors that can affect the final trust. Therefore, the node trust varies with time. However, most current researches lay more emphasis on building an effective and robust trust management system while ignoring the time-attenuation characteristics in trust updating. Therefore, the evaluation result is inaccuracy and makes the on-off attack possible. Considering the fast-fall and slow-rise time-attenuation characteristics, we propose a novel trust updating mechanism (NTUM) based on sliding window. Experimental results show that our trust update mechanism outperforms other compared mechanisms.
