For the purpose of finding out the acoustic characteristics in absorptive muffler, analytical and experimental studies are performed. Foamed aluminum is well-known metallic porous sound absorption material that has excellent properties of lightweight and high absorbing performance. Experimental method using two-microphone impedance tube measures the impedances of foamed aluminum and predicted impedances of foamed aluminum is compared with measured impedance.
