An Adaptive QoS-routing Algorithm for IP Networks Using Genetic Algorithms

In this paper, a genetic algorithm is designed for adaptive and optimal data routing in an internet network. The algorithm called QORGA, supports QoS-routing for the two simulated services 'Voice' and 'Data'. The used genetic operators permit to obtain the optimal path, while providing others feasible paths for differentiated services. This algorithm is not based on the knowledge of the full network topology by each node. That allows the optimisation of the network resources through the diminution of the exchanged accessibility information, leading to a scalable network deployment in addition to the possible use of source routing protocols in IP networks.
