Motorcycle/Van High-Speed Crash Test

In 1998, a crash test was conducted in which a van was struck broadside by a motorcycle at 67.5 mph. The tests were performed at an abandoned drag strip in Maryland. The motorcycle was attached to a cable and was kept upright by an outrigger. The motorcycle was then towed into the stationary target vehicle. No dummy was attached to the motorcycle. This article summarizes the crash test results, including scene measurements, the target vehicle crush profile, and the motorcycle wheelbase reduction.
