Improvement of CT Performance by UFC Detector Technology

Since the early days of computed tomography (CT), solid state detectors have been used to detect the X-ray radiation transmitted through the patient’s body. These detectors have been based on the combination of classical scintillators with photodetectors, e.g., Nal with photomultipliers or Csl (CdWO4) with photo-diodes. Early CT scanners were of the rotate-rotate type with pulsed radiation and change of the direction of rotation from scan to scan.
