Partnerships

This issue of the Journal of Agricultural & Food Information (JAFI) consists of papers submitted for publication from the United States Agricultural Information Network Conference–“Extending Our Reach: Redefining and Promoting Agricultural Information Through Partnerships” held April 20-23, 2001 in Raleigh, North Carolina. A major focus of partnerships discussed in these papers is between agricultural librarians and extension personnel in their respective states. This seems to be a natural and logical activity as both deal with agricultural information and the transmission of it to their clientele. In these times of static and/or declining budgets for both Land Grant University Libraries and Cooperative Extension Services it does seem imperative that we work collaboratively to more efficiently provide information services to our shared clientele. One partnership activity that needs to be developed in every state involves the library mission of long-term preservation of agricultural information.
